Pre-fertilization-origin preservation of brown fat-mediated
energy expenditure in humans.
Nature Metabolism (2025) DOI:10.1038/s42255-025-01249-2
We showed that people who were conceived (pregnant) during the cold season have more activated
brown fat, which produces heat, consume more energy, and are less likely to develop obesity as
adults. The research shows that influence of the living environment of the parent generation is
transmitted to their children, helping them acquire a heat-producing constitution and prevent
lifestyle-related diseases, and is expected to lead to new methods of preventing
lifestyle-related diseases.
