Division and Department

Department of Pharmaceutics

A Greeting from the Professor

Welcome to the Department of Pharmaceutics, Akita University Graduate School of Medicine.

Our mission and goal is to provide personalized therapy using a therapeutic drug monitoring and pharmacogenomics.

Until now, we have established the relationships between exposure and response (efficacy/toxicity) for tyrosine kinase inhibitors, immunosuppressive drugs, and anticoagulant agents etc. Dose-adjustment based on pharmacokinetic targets or genomic information can increase response rates and duration for pharmacotherapy.

We will continue to develop new strategies for pharmacotherapy in the future.

Staff

Professor: Masatomo MIURA, Ph.D.
Lecturer: Takenori NIIOKA, Ph.D.

Research Areas

  1. Pharmacogenomics of drug metabolizing enzymes and drug transporters.
  2. Clinical pharmacokinetics, including drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion and therapeutic drug monitoring.
