近年インターネットの普及によりデータ、文字、音声、画像、ビデオなどのあらゆる情報が距離や時間を超えて効率良く送受信できるようになった。そのため本学会をはじめ動物実験関連の研究機関、団体、企業においてもＨＰ（ホームページ）を開設し、インターネットの使用が盛んとなっている。

当施設でも平成９年３月よりホームページ（HP）を開設して施設の機能強化を試みているのでその運用状況を紹介する。

HP（ http://jazz.akita-u.ac.jp/animal）は学部内専用サイトと一般公開用サイトから成り立っており、１名の専任教官と１名のパート職員の管理により以下の情報が掲載されている。

1. 施設サービスの向上と事務作業の省力化として
   1. 施設から利用者への通知（学部内のみ）
      各種通知等、動物の搬入日および収容場所
      
   2. 動物実験に関する情報の提供
      施設利用手引き、実験装置の取り扱い説明、動物実験に関する法律等、動物実験手技、動物実験関係書籍リスト等
      
2. 情報公開と一般市民への啓蒙活動として
   施設の紹介、利用状況、利用者の声
   
   
3. 動物実験計画書の提出・審査（学部内のみ）
   

HPを用いたことにより以下のことが可能となった。

• インターネットを用いて利用講習会を効率的に行うことが可能となった。
• 実験機器の説明に割かれる時間が減少した。
• 動物実験手技に関する情報が容易に入手可能であるため、実験動物の福祉が促進された。
• 実験計画書の迅速な審査が可能となった。

情報公開法の施行や動管法の改正もあり、わが国の動物実験を適切に推進し、動物実験の必要性を多くの人々に理解してもらうためにインターネットを利用する研究機関は今後ますます増えてくるものと思われる。その利用に当たっては本学会はじめ日本実験動物医学界等関連諸団体から発信される信頼のおける情報を利用することが効率的であり、またこれらの関連諸団体は迅速で適正な情報を発信するために連携する必要があると考える。

Since March 1997 we have opened Home Page (HP) with Inter Net in order to promote the function of our Facilities. Our HP (http://jazz.akita-u.ac.jp/animal) is composed of the private and public site. Private site is used as information site only for our Facilities' users, while public site is used to introduce our Facilities, enlighten the public about the necessity of animal research in medical science, and promote appropriate animal experiments for researchers. By enforcement of Freedom of Information and revision of Law Concerning the Protection and Control of Animals, many animal research institutes will open HP so that researchers can carry out appropriate animal experiments. We think that it is efficient for these institutes to use the reliable information from organizations involved in animal research including this Association, and that it is necessary for these organizations to co-operate on Inter Net for promptly sending the reliable information.
